Thumbs up Custom Builder Logo Needed - $150 - May 31st

(Admin code added by Michael - W1086524, 20040315W)

I have an easy one for you. I have a client that wants a new logo for their custom home building company. I will list the pertinant information below.

Company Name: Lippincott Custom Builders, Inc

Catchphrase: Quality Homes and Custom Designs

Color Palette: Warm Colors - Brown, Black, Rust Red, Olive Green, Gold, Copper, Orange etc.

Other: This is a custom home builder in Fairhope Alabama which is a very posh place. Lippincott Custom Builders is one of the best in this area. They deal with a very high end clientele. They would like something to reflect that intangible. They would describe themselves by using adjectives like Quality, Custom, Unique. They want to set themselves apart from other builders. They are not tied to the catchphrase. If you want to omit it then that is fine. Or if you have a better one then that is OK as well....

File Formats: Typical.... Vector, jpg, bmp, in both color and black and white.

End Date: May 31

Pay: 150$ goes to the winning logo design.

One last thing.... Do NOT use a house in the logo. That would be too easy...

The client thinks this design, while good, is too commercial looking. She is looking for something more elegant without being sugary and ornate. Does that make sense. Think roman columns. Something that communicates strength and power but craftsmanship and decoration.

Update

The client wanted me to take back the roman column idea lest any of you take that literally. Apparently there is a builder in the area that uses that in their logo and they work on the low end of the housing market. They do not want any confusion between the two.

The leaf logo reminds her of a landscaping company.

It might be better to go with a design that has one elegant symbol to the side or above of the name. This would allow them to use the logo without the name.

A little help? Anyone.... Anyone....

Sorry for the delay

Was tied up over the weekend.

Jason, your entry was very good. A couple things - Would like to see with a tan or marblized tan background and the Darker color on the lettering only. Would like to see a couple more colors as well if possible. Could you change the font of the business name to be less block-like?

Grafissimo, the last line with the arch thing and the business name underneath was the closest. Once again, I don't like the font. I would like to see a different picture instead of the arch if he has one.

crazyman, Let me get some feedback from the client for you. give me 24.

I guess the "building blocks" idea didn't go over real well??

No problem. I've revised the design per your requests. It is now down to one spot color. I have another version with a pinkish tan background, but I liked this one better. As for the "marblized tan", I'll have to work on the for you.

More feedback

Direct from the client,

I do like Jason's revised version but I like the original rust color better than the one he used the second time. Try doing the “L” in black instead of white with the rust red color around it. Another idea that I thought of. Is there a way to make custom builder a little larger. I don’t want to put the emphasis as much on “Lippincott” If they are the same size that is fine, but need to make sure that people know what kind of business we have.

I like cazeyman’s entry as well, but it is a little large. Try a softer font and a more warm color just for kicks.

round #2 yeah

OK, I gave the logo an over warmer tone. I tried a softer font, even a more uhh"swoopy" font but didn't enjoy it, i believe it gave it a almost "hotel" feel. The taller more grand font works better with the prestigious feel i am trying to illustrate , if it needs to move in a different direction comments are always welcome. Thanks

We may extend a bit

Because of the Memorial Day holiday we may extend the deadline a bit.

I also have some more feedback from the client...

Graphxguy – Thanks but not really what she is looking for

Mark – Thanks but not really what she is looking for

Grafissimo – Thanks but not really what she is looking for

Paula - ??? Not sure. Could you maybe change the colors a bit and maybe change them a slightly to push her in the right direction

Jason & Cazeyman – On the right track will need to see a few changes before deciding. see below...

Cazeyman – Do not like the 3 & 4 one, but 1& 2 are good. Try both of those with dark chocolate brown and goldish tan. (Two colors) I am still trying to find the elegant factor so see what you can do to draw that out a bit.

Jason – I keep looking at the first entry with the rust background throughout and would like to see it again with some different fonts. Also, can you make the “L” a little smaller so I can see if that makes a difference. I can’t decide whether I like the white, black, or brown background.

Overall both are on the right track. Pull out all the stops and just play around with as many ideas as you can so we can draw this to a close.

By first entry, you mean the "building blocks", right? I would suggest, that IF you were to go with that design, to stay with the "L" in white. The reason it was done like that was to blend the white in the spaces between the "blocks". Also, the reason for the "L" running off of the edges, I wanted to go with something a bit "custom" rather than a simple "L" in the middle.

Just let me know if that was the entry you were referring to and I'll get right on the changes.

Give me a day to get her to tell me which one it is. But I appreciate your willingness to work with us and your comments on the design are right on.

Paula,

Kinda freaky... did you search out their website or something? The ornament that you used in your design is their current logo. The last one that looks like the new orleans saints logo....

Great to have your submissions though. I will pass on any comments. I think she may like your designs though....

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes,the last design is inspired by their existing logo.
A face lift if you will
The first design (L-1) was adjusted to reflect the roof line on their model homes.
The second design (L-2) was inspired by the brick work on their homes.

Thanks,Paula

Jason,

She was talking about your first design. She likes the building blocks idea.

Crazyman your new entry is right on as well.

And Paula, she really likes your first entry.

I hope to have more information soon if any changes are needed. But keep the ideas coming.

Also... I reluctantly post the following link as it is not a good relfection of the quality of homes and image that they portray (which is why the logo is being redesigned in the first place) but if you would like to see their current website then go
