[Project Complete] 50th Anniversary Logo for United Way - $20

First of all, I am constantly amazed by the wonderful work that comes from this site. My husband used you guys to create a logo for his new business a few months ago and it turned out great. Unfortuneately, I work for a nonprofit agency and have much less to offer - I hope you'll take pity on us!

I am in need of a 50th anniversary logo for our local United Way agency. The logo you create will be used first, on our letterhead and brochures, then on t-shirts, special event mailings, etc. The logo should include the text United Way of Rutherford County, 50th Anniversay, 1956-2006 and could also include our national tagline "what matters" or some variation of it, like "50 years of doing what matters." (The tagline is trademarked and so it should always include the "TM" after it).

The logo will need to incorporate our colors: red, yellow and blue, and should somehow incorporate the feel of our national logo which I've attached. (The national logo will also be included on all publications, so it does not - and should not - be incorporated exactly into your design).

I've also attached some examples of other variations that other United Ways have done with the logo to get your thoughts rolling.

I'd so appreciate any assistance your talented minds could offer!

Way to get off to a great start! I really like this alot, Fran. Minor changes: Could I see "what matters" in lower case letters and with a small "TM" symbol? Also, could we do a brighter, primary, red and blue rather than the muted ones? I want to run this by a couple of other folks this afternoon and see what they think. Anyone else wanna take a shot?

We'd really like to see some more ideas before making our decision. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make this process easier...more information, etc. I had hoped this would be an easy one! I'll give it a couple more days for some other folks to jump in - PLEASE!! (Fran, I like your design but I'd also like to see something a little more fun and lighthearted as well. I really liked the design you did for the Mid-Summer Festival:

Fran,
I really like both of your designs, and its nice to see two options - something a little more classic and the other more contemporary. I think both would work well on shirts, letterhead, etc. Please give us a little more time to think on these.

This really isn't what I had in mind because although we are a small independent chapter of UW, it seems to stray too much from the original brandmark. It seems too "spread out" for lack of a better term and wouldn't be as versatile as we're looking for. However, I do appreciate the effort and would welcome other suggestions from you, maybe something a little more compact.

We'd still welcome any other ideas and submissions from others as well!

Thanks so much for the submissions. I'm glad we're finally getting to see some different ideas. The variety is great. Ichi, I really like your idea. If we go with that one, we'd need to change some of the fonts, but overall its great. Carlos, much better the second time around.
I have a board meeting tomorrow in which I'll be able to get a final vote hopefully from the folks whose opinions matter.

Well, after viewing all the designs last night at our meeting, the big guys ended up going with Fran's first design. We all really liked Ichi's design, but ultimately felt that we needed something more classic that could easily go from letterhead to t-shirts and look great on everything.

So, congrats, Fran, you're the winner! (Your first design but with the revised, brighter colors).

Can you send me the logo in formats I would need for letterhead as well as for t-shirt design?
