$300 Logo Contest for Menswear Company - Deadline: Monday, August 1st

(Admin code added by Palmer - 5A369722EL925242J)

Deadline: August 1, 2005
$300 to the Winner…

We are re-branding our company and need a new logo for our online business, DeCalo Fashion. We sell high-end designer men’s suits, dress shirts, slacks and neckties at 40-80% below retail. Brands we carry include Zegna, Canali, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole and others.

The new logo has to be clean, classy, professional and memorable. Our company name is not very “eye-catching” or memorable so we need the logo to do much of the work (many mistake our name for DeCaRlo). We would like the logo to include our name as well as a symbol that can stand alone. The symbol should be meaningful and synonymous with our brand. It can be a design using our initials, an abstract design (perhaps of a suit, shirt collar, necktie, etc.), or anything else you guys/gals can come up with. We don’t have a tagline but are open to suggestions…

We do not have ANY font preferences and are wide open to any color combinations. The logo will be used on our website, eBay auctions, business cards, letterheads, print media, shipping labels/boxes, etc.

There are so many logos that we love here at the outpost. Attached is just a small selection of logos from previous contests that have caught our attention. We are continuously blown away by the incredible talent here and are looking forward to your entries…

Happy designing!!!

Hi, Eran

A question for you: you say you'd like the image part of the logo to be synonimous with the brand, but what exactly does your name mean?

Thanks!

hi

here is my concept for you..
since DeCALO is offering a high-end fashion collection, i decided not to make a playful/iconic logo.. this also to keep people focusing on the name, but in correct spelling for sure..

so, my approach is to capitalize the "CALO".. and do something to that..
i reduced the size of "fashion" ..to make the logo is suitable/flexible in the future just in the case you decided to change it or add more word, "fashion & jewelery" for instance..

thanks!

AlexKogan - Welcome to our project! The name "DeCalo" is simply my last name. It has an Italian sound to it and since we sell a lot of Italian brands, we just went with it. I guess other than that, it has no meaning!

Wow, we are totally blown away by the talent here… Thank you for all the fabulous entries so far. First a few common thoughts/suggestions (individual comments are below):

- We think we’re leaning towards deep colors (black, burgundy, maroon, deep blue, browns, etc.)
- We would love it if someone tried making the “l” or “i” into a tie… Not sure what it would look like but maybe someone wants to give it a go.
- Anyone willing to try an abstract line sketch of a shirt collar, a tie, or a suit. It can be straight lines or wavy ones.

bogglins (version 1) – Love the deep colors and the way you capitalized the word “CALO”. “Fashion” looks great below… Reminds me slightly of Tab Cola for some reason. Can you play around with the fonts in DeCalo (a bit more upscale)?

Bill (version 1) – The gentleman is awesome! Love the way he looks. The font selection I am not crazy about. It needs to be a bit deeper and bolder. I’m also not sure if the man overpowers the words… Can the man be scaled down a bit so that the logo is more proportional?

graphixparanoid (version 1) – Wow that’s a cool use of the “DC”. Perfect icon that looks great standing on its own! When I first looked at it looked like “CD” is there anyway to reverse that? I don’t like the font much and would like a deeper font the pops more. There is also no spacing between the De and Calo. I’d like to see other color variations (deeper colors like burgundy, maroons, deep blues, hunter green, etc.).

Jason (version 1) – Thanks for the submission! Very simple indeed; perhaps too simple though! I love the logos you did for “Sabio Digital”, “Jaide”, “Cribs” “lower my quote”, “Core”, and “BD Properties”. Would you be willing to try something along those lines?

Jason (version 2) – Now that’s creative! Unfortunately, a bow tie isn’t really us (too black tie-ish). I really love the mirror imaging of the DC. Reminds me a lot of D&G (Dolce & Gabbana). Maybe we can use that symbol w/out the circle in the middle. A little more color perhaps?

thinkre8tive (version1) – Love it! Would like to see other color variations… Reminds me a lot of the “adidas” font (was that your inspiration?). Can the “fashion” move a tad bit to the left and also is there anything you can do to make it a bit less simplistic?

thinkre8tive (version2) – How cool! I love how the De, Calo & Fashion are in 3 different colors. The tie between the DC is very clever and I like it. Would it be possible to shrink it down a little so that it isn’t so overpowering. Can we try deeper colors…

thinkre8tive (version3) – A little too flashy for us… reminds me of Vegas! Not our style but thanks. The other versions were more inline with our needs.

thinkre8tive (version4) – Nice submission… A little too much "fun in the sun" for us.. Reminds me of a surf theme. Let’s try deeper more elegant colors instead of the tropical ones. Can you remove the “f” from within the “C”…

Paula23 (version 1) – This looks amazing; however, it might be a bit too delicate and fragile for our needs. The 2nd is better than the first since it doesn’t have the shadowing effect. Not too crazy about the green used. I like the vertical line but don’t like the vertical placement of the word “fashion”.

Raja (version 1) - We're excited you decided to join our project. Your logo is very elegant and classy. Nice to see one w/out the word fashion! Can we see different color variations and the word "DECALO" bolder/deeper? How would it look with lower case "dc" and perhaps w/out the box?

Wow, this project is generating some great concept! I am so excited. We decided that the word "fashion" should be part of the logo (the domain name www.decalo.com is taken). What do you guys think of a line drawing of a rolled-up necktie (see http://static.forzieri.com/images/po...014-024-3a.jpg). Here are my comments:

Paula23 (version 2) – Now that's what I'm talking about! Love the line drawing and want to see more like this!!! Okay, this is a great sketch, but can you add a tie to it and make it slightly less abstract? Also, it may be too hard to make out what used as a small logo. So, my suggestion is to concentrate on a closer area (e.g. Lapel, Collar & tie knot, etc.) We are not crazy about the font you used for DeCalo (the broken "e" and "a" are not doing it). Can you use other font combination? I like the word fashion against the solid box so maybe incorporate that as well.

Paula23 (version 3) – Not crazy about this one. Too busy, I like version 2 better but with the changes noted!

Fabian (version 1 & 2) – Very clever use of the men! I personally would not have seen it w/out your comment! I like version 2 better than version 1.

Thinkkre8tive (version 1-A) – Thanks for the different color variations! I like it better with the word "fashion". We really like version 2 and would like to see the changes from our previous comment. Can you try and spread out the DC a bit more…

DesignGeneral (version 01 & 02) – Thanks for listening to our suggestions! We like version 2 better than 1. But overall are not crazy about how it shaped up…

DesignGeneral (version 03) – I love the font you used!!! It is one of the nicest. The symbol, however, isn't doing it for us! Can we try a different mark and introduce the word "fashion"?

Jason (version 2a) – Much better but I just can't seem to get DG (Dolce & Gabbana) out of my head (not sure if that's a bad thing)!
