Due Nov 30th - Emergency Personal Data Storage - $200.
(Admin code added by Jason - 4KE86990U6612631B)
I'm beginning a website called MyEmergencyData.com. At this site, subscribers will store information that could be helpful in case of personal emergencies where they cannot make their wishes known. The scope is extensive and particularly desirable for single people and people who travel.
I'd like the logo to be clean and clear, easily read. I like blue and black with yellow, which could translate to grayscale.
This is a personal data storage and retrieval service. Behind super-firewalls, we provide subscribers with web space for their personal emergency specifics, such as contact persons, health care insurance policy details, living will locations, pet care instructions, physician details, personal allergy identification, burial and obituary materials.
When emergency personnel need help for our client, they can phone us. We verify the inquirer’s credentials and the client’s need, and provide the information our client has identified to be shared under those circumstances.
Our defining terms might well be "security, support, personal control." We want our existing and prospective clients to experience us as efficient, compassionate, caring and conscientious. The overall message we are trying to convey to our target audience is that when you can't speak for yourself, we can speak for you--you’re never alone--when you need help, we’re there to explain your wishes.
Each new subscriber receives an identification card with the client's name, www.myemergencydata.com and our toll free telephone number. Clients also may purchase medallions with the client's myemergencydata.com ID number and website address.
Subscription prices are only $20 per year for the original householder and $5 per year for each additional household member.
A close competitor might be myemergencyinfo.com, except for our 3-fold differences:
1. We have real people provide the subscriber's personal information to emergency personnel.
2. Our focus extends beyond medical emergencies to include burial information.
3. We provide links to national/regional/local health care providers, ambulance services, morticians and cemeteries, estate planners and probate attorneys.
I am very excited about this new service and thank you for your help. As you may suspect, I've not previously used Design Outpost but hope to partner well with you as we create an image that relays this vision. I look forward to working with you.
Best to you,
Susannah

Good Start
Thank you, Jon,
This is a good start. I like the strength of the arrow and the power of the design, but I'm not keen about the take off on the Red Cross symbol.
In looking at your portfolio, I was struck by the stylized heart and wonder what you might do with that or how that might work. That might handle the My and the Emergency parts, but how would you graphically handle the idea of Data?
I very much appreciate your interest. Thank you, Susannah

Jon,
I think we've gone too far the other way, that is too soft could you make it a bit more BOTH masculine and feminine?

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the re-fashioning. Here's some feedback just from me. I'm hoping to get input from other chums as we go.
Here's what I think, and I'm neither an artist nor a marketer. First, if you were to keep anything from the first round, I'd like the arrow. I'm not keen about the cross symbol.
Second, in the most recent version, I really get how you're reaching for the informational component and the heart-felt quality we want to have, but I'm not sure you're sending the right message.
If I were to translate the images, I'd say that the site was about a love book or a book of love. While we want to be a caring, loving support system, what we're selling is something else. We're selling 3 things:
--Personal emergency information internet storage,
--Personal information communication with emergency personnel by phone during times of crisis,
--Service internet links to health and death services, such as probate attorneys, estate planners, health care systems, morticians, cemetaries, ambulance services.
I hope that helps stimulate your creative juices. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Susannah

Jon,
I came up with an idea tonight. How about somehow using the caduceus? That could be an alternative to the Red Cross cross, which I don't like.
Looking for a breakthrough....

Suggestions from the reviewers.
Hi Jon,
I've spoken with some of the people I've asked to review our progress and have some more ideas for your creative genius. One friend suggested using a stethoscope, perhaps instead of the caduceus, but I like the caduceus.
Someone else suggested using the stethoscope to outline the heart! Someone else suggested using a file folder outline to suggest the idea of storing people's files. Very creative people here rooting for you.
Thanks for your help, Susannah

Oh, and I've been hearing from folks that they like your blue and green or blue and red more than the blue and yellow.
Other than I like blue and yellow together, I just like how that looks screened. The yellow comes out so much lighter in gray tones, but don't be limited by my preferences.
I'll be out of town Thursday to Tuesday, but will try to check in from the road.
Thanks, again.

A friend of mine just suggested making the colors really stand out, like florescent green and purple. That sounds really good to me, oddly enough. What do you think?
If there are other designers out there hanging back until the last minute, let me know. I will be gone Aug. 25-30. You may want to get your feedback before I go rather than while I'm crunchy when I get back. If you need the deadline extended, let me know.

Time's Running Out
Not to be an alarmist, but our deadline is Sept. 5.
From my friends, I'm hearing that they really like Jon's colors, better than my suggestion. So let's go with designers' ideas on this stuff.
I sure would like to see some more designs before the deadline.

Welcome aboard, Aaron. I like the movement, but do drop the cross.
Good use of the file folder.
I'm surprised no one's played with the MED possibilities of MyEmergencyData.com, but that's up to you designers.
Keep those gray cells churning. I appreciate the help.

We like these last two much better.* I even received a rave for the version by Aaron with the swirl and file folder! (Not the one with the folder that has little spikes coming out of it.) In any case, we think the folder will be too plain without something on it.
Since I don't like the cross on the folder, how about a jagged line like the kind that indicates a heart monitor? Or a stethoscope? Or a Caduceus? Or a small family grouping like one of those very symple representations of Mom Dad, Boy, Girl, that is just balls for heads on top of rounded cones?
We also think the design would be more interesting if two tones - blue & red, as are some of the earlier ideas. Folks didn’t like the maroon.
Keep up the good work, Susannah

I would very much like to see the MED component played more. Even I sometimes forget the name of the website but remember the MED and then can fill in the blanks. Could you help develop that?

I still like no 18 best - with the curve but not with the red cross. I like no 24 with the people coming out of the folder, but miss the curve which I find very stylish. I don't like the last one with the playing cards, although I do see that our designer is trying to get at the idea of risK?
Keep up the good work. Smiles, Suzann

What about a combination of elements?

I still like the swirl/folder. Could the set with the people change to make the figures overlap or something? I think I prefer the image to be on the outside of the folder rather than on the inside, but I'm not sure.
Could we try it with a jagged line indicating a heartbeat? I'd also like to see the MED emphasized some how.
Thanks so much for your efforts, Susannah

All the elements, in a more compact format. When I was experimenting with this, having the figures on the outside of the folder seems to make the graphic a little disjointed. I do have one more set to try to nail down though.

Sorry all for my absence,
Moving from NM to California has taken its toll. I've been out of all my loops for the past 2 months, but now I'm back.
Aaron, I like how you've incorporated so many elements, but somehow, it's too thick. That seems the wrong word, but somehow conveys my ambivalence.
Please keep more options coming. Thank you, Susannah
