New Logo $200 8/26 - Thunderhead Engineering

(Admin code added by Palmer - 4S880375G46334318)

We are looking for a redesign of our comapany logo. It should include the name of our company (Thunderhead Engineering), and preferrably some graphic in the spirit of our current cloud graphic. We prefer designs that are simple or minimal, and would like to stick with a blue color scheme.

Thunderhead Engineering is a small software development company specializing in engineering applications. We produce GUI software for groundwater flow modeling and fire simulation.

Thanks.

Bill - Thanks for the quick post. General resonse from our staff is mixed. Most agree it would be better without the lightning.

I wanted to post a little more information to help guide designers.

- We would like to project the image that we are a small, cutting edge software design firm. Perhaps something sleek, modern, technical, ...

- A large percentage of our clients are from architecture and engineering firms, so our identity needs to speak to that market segment. Again, something with a high-tech, precise feel.

Thanks.

Paula:

Thanks for the good ideas. We like the general feel of your Version 1 (particularly the look of the words), but we would like to see some other options for the graphic. We really like the idea of a stand-alone graphic, because it can be shrunk to fit a 32-pixel icon where we can't use words. However, we're not moved by the bubble graphic in this version.

We also like some ideas in Version 2, particularly because it is very simple. However, we would like more of a stand-alone graphic element, and the capitalization on the word engineering brings out the word 'engine' too much.

Thanks, Brian

I think we are looking for a more abstract/stylized cloud graphic.

Paula - you are on the right track with the bubbles (v1), but it looks too much like seperate spheres.

Aaron - both of your designs have that crisp feel we are looking for, but the clouds are too realistic, not abstract enough yet.

We have attached a very rough concept sketch that some of us like -- just brainstorming food (none of us are designers).

We're excited about the process so far - keep up the good work.

Thanks,
Thunderhead

Paula - thanks for pulling us out of our box (maybe we were too fixated on a cloud symbol).

We really like your Version 4, followed by V5. Could we see some variations on V4: a darker blue color, some 2-color variations, and maybe some other fonts? We think we like the horizontal layout of v4 over the vertical layout of v5.

Great work.

Paula - I think we still prefer the original font out of those choices (V4 a), although some of us feel that is is too rounded. Also, I think we would like to try the 'TE' logo with the text layout from V3 (with the smaller 'engineering').

Aaron - we like your V4 cloud the best of your submissions, but we would like less shadowing on the font, and maybe a less of a 'Microsoft' typeface.

Kassi - we like your concept, but aren't crazy about the accent lines coming of the T and d.

Great work from all. Thanks.

Artemii - Your submission is very close to what we originally asked for, although we're not sure what direction we're headed at this point. You could work on the shape of the cloud somewhat, and perhaps try another font. We will be considering all submissions and taking an internal poll after the deadline.

Thanks,
-Thunderhead

Here's a version without the "accent lines". One with a gradient, and the other without.
