Due Oct 2nd - Logo for Software company - $250

(Admin code added by Palmer - 4B6815956W7558113)

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
MARBLEWIRE SOFTWARE

What type of product or service do you offer?
We are an ISV planning the release of our first software product designed and developed in-house. It will be going live in December 2005.

How long have you been in business?
This is an extension of the consultancy business, which has been running for 5.5 years now. This is the vehicle for our shrink wrapped product.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Our software product will be mostly sold and marketed on the web. We need a solid identity for this

What are your long term goals?
Continue to improve the current product making it as good as it can be, add new products to the line and do likewise, making life better for my customers.

Audience Profile:

Who would you like to add to your audience?
For now, corporate training departments and private sector training institutions, that might change if our market focus alter but it will still be the corporate market.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Stylised name with subtle image. Would like to be able to use the image on its own in places.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No major preferences here

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Not really

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
High tech, Classy, Professional, Solid. Quality,

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
This is a professional company that you can trust and rely on.

Where will your new logo be used?
On the website, letterheads and business cards

Competitive Positioning:

What sets you apart from your competitors?
A strong emphasis on goal orientation, usability and design, avoiding unnecessary features.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Making software that improves lives.

Hi Folks,
Thanks very much for getting involved. Pretty interesting interpretations . My take is as follows:

@Taldo
I like what you've done with the words but am not too sure about the image. Would be interested to see an image thats not quite so obvious.

@Ruairi
Like this too, though I feel the image is a little radical. Could you soften it a bit.

@Aaron
Not too sure about this. Am not feeling the text or image.

@Unorthodox
Like what you've done here. Not too sure about the yellow. Could you possibly show some variants?

Thank you all for your work thus far.

As a footnote, I am not of necessity looking for the representation of a marble or wire. Where you do represent it, could we go for so abstract its not there otherwise I am quite happy to see unrelated images.

Regards

Abz

Hi Bojan,
thanks for your interpretation, I like it.

I do however feel that the image is a touch too big. Could I see it using the size of the image from the non coloured one. Also could you present a different font?

Many thanks

@Bojan
Thanks for the redo. Looks more in perspective now. Will mull this one over.

@Unorthodox
Whilst the text works, the image is beginning to pale in comparison with some of the others here. Could you scale up a bit perhaps?

Thanks all

perhaps you could offer some insight into the name's (Marblewire) origin and how your product/s and ethos reflect this meaning.

and

what sort of software do you develop? you say corporate, but is it project management, database, spreadsheet, accounting, voice recognition, word processing, content management?

cheers.

Ratbaggy,
The name was made up, going through ideas about building and creating stuff. The funny thing is that the marble in the name is really the stone and not the spherical play thing . I still like some of the marble related designs though. The name in an abstract kind of way is about creating something from seemingly nothing which is what development can be sometimes. The wire bit brings it to life.

The software is a tool for managing training programme evaluations.

Hope this helps.

Ratbaggy,
Thanks for the alternate take. It looks interesting but doesn't quite resonate with me.

Ruairi,
Thanks for the rework. Interesting but i fear the spirit has gone. No too fond of these. Going back to your original, I get this flaming impression from the gradient version hence my 'radical' description. I still like the idea of the vertical lines but not communicating fire, burning, electricity which is what I am getting. I feel the sharp angles on the M also be contributing to this.

Any ideas?

@Ruairi,
Thanks for getting back. Am not too sure about this now.

@Fabian
I like the text you used but the image does not resonate.

@Raja
Interesting image but am not too fond of it though I do like the text.

@DesignGeneral
Am getting austere/harsh from this design. Am not feeling it reach out.

Thank you all for contributing your ideas.
